Central Park West Gate 59th Entrance

The Central Park West Gate Entrance was taken on the corner of 59th Street and Columbus Circle. I took the shot from a temporary platform that was erected around the statue of Christopher Columbus in Columbus Circle. The temporary structure was a public art exhibition called Discovering Columbus by Tatzu Nishi which featured a modern penthouse apartment around the statue. The exhibition ran from September 20, 2012- November 18, 2012.

As I exited the exhibition the New York skyline took me back that day and I took this photo to capture the moment, especially since this was a once in a lifetime angle. One of my goals as a photographer is to bring out the beauty in everyday life that normally passes people by.
