59th Street

59th Street

59th Street

59th Street is…well…59th Street in New York City. Yes, I have been told that I am not very creative when it comes to naming things. The photo is of 59th Street looking east. I took the shot from a temporary platform that was erected around the statue of Christopher Columbus in Columbus Circle.

The temporary structure was a public art exhibition called Discovering Columbus by Tatzu Nishi which featured a modern penthouse apartment around the statue. The exhibition ran from September 20, 2012- November 18, 2012.

As I exited the exhibition the New York skyline took me back that day and I took this photo to capture the moment, especially since this was a once in a lifetime angle. One of my goals as a photographer is to bring out the beauty in everyday life that normally passes people by.
