The Rockaway Sand Pyramids

The Rockaway Sand Pyramids were created by workers cleaning up the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The city collected all the sand and debris that was washed up during the storm and they used the parking lot at Jacob Riis Park Parking lot as a staging area to process the wreckage.

I am not sure if they workers intentionally made sand pyramids but I heard that the wind blew around the shifting sand and transformed the piles of sand into sand pyramids. No matter how it occurred it still looked cool, and for a while The Rockaways resembled Egypt more than New York.

Even in destruction you can still find beauty.
